Agreement lifecycle

An agreement moves through draft, pending, open, cancelled, and fulfilled. The stage decides what you can still change.


The stages​


Draft​

  • Prepare the agreement: Add participants, attach the document, and get the agreement ready for signing.

Pending​

  • Locked for signing: The agreement is ready for signing. Inputs have been validated, and you cannot change them.
  • Invitations: If communication is enabled, this is when participants are invited.
  • Where it can go next: From pending, the agreement can move to cancelled or fulfilled, or back to open if you need to pause and make changes.

Open​

  • Pause and edit: Open pauses signing so you can make changes, then continue.

Cancelled​

  • Finished: A cancelled agreement is done. No further signing actions can happen.
  • Notice: If communication is enabled, we tell participants that the agreement was cancelled.

Fulfilled​

  • Complete: fulfilled means every required signature is in and the agreement is complete.
  • Set for you: You don't set this stage yourself. It happens when the signing requirements are met.

What the stage tells you​

The stage tells you whether you can still edit the agreement, whether invitations have gone out, and whether signing is finished.
